Brian Yates grew up in the Boy Scouts, achieving Eagle Scout just before his 15th birthday. During summers, in addition to youth baseball, he attended American Youth Foundation summer programs aimed at developing leadership. The programs at the AYF were based on the idea taken from Luke 2:52. “Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” The Ralston Purina checkerboard square is actually a visual representation of this idea. 

Youth development through Young Life created opportunities to experience the construction trades. Brian then chose education as a place to share a wealth of experiences and a love for learning. Side businesses and projects have been his classroom for himself and students.

Now, after 30 years as an educator, Brian is to continuing to offer exceptional experiences for a few young people, mentoring young entrepreneurs, or young people needing to get their hands dirty.
